Lets see what bookmarks are available and if we can find any deals on books!
The rareness of the bookmark judges how much I am going to pay for it. I am always on the look out for a bargin! Normal bookmarks I don't think should be more the $4-5. That might just be my thinking when I started collecting and never updated. Half Price Books use to sell then 5 for a $1! Boy those were the days (yes I know I am not that old!) That is how I got most of my collection at Half Price. Then they went up to 0.49 cents each, but they stopped having the good ones. No Star Wars, no Star Trek, no comic book ones, no nothing! The rack still stands there and haunts me to this day. Every time I go in I still search even though I know I am not going to find anything. I am trying to think what is the most I ever paid for a bookmark. It would have to be a rare one......

I am happy so say that Authors subhead has been added on the books page!!! Bookmarks are to use in books and yet the bookmarks based on books are lacking. It surprising. That is very tongue tying. I really only have two at the moment with a famous quote on it.

More Harry Potter added 3D added. Another Smurf BK and TMNT BKs on the Cartoon/comic page. Found a Daredevil bookmark. No idea when or what it's from.

 

I found some Elvis and John Wayne bookmarks. Do you want me to add those too? I am thinking I will merge maybe celebrities with books....? Movies I can for see being a big section or merging with books into movies, and books has about nothing. How about I make it Books/Authors/Celebs...? Sound good?

New bookmarks!

Hey everyone! It's Julie, Jade is letting me post some of the updates.

I found three new Star Wars bookmarks to add. I don't really know how new they are, but I have never seen them and Jade is updating the Star Wars section. The bottom one is available on Ebay HERE I need to get around to getting one of those. I would expect that with a Clone Wars Anakin, that means there is/or will be an Obi-Wan. Also there are some Comic-Con bookmarks floating around. Just think bookmarks for the new movies!!! Sorry I am excited today!

I am so EXCITED!!!! LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL TODAY!!!!! I finally feel like I am getting bookmarks off my To-Buy list! Got a couple Harry Potter, 1 Hunger Games (I wonder when Catching Fire BKs are coming out?), 4-set Star Wars E1 Gallery set (Not bad for $7 bucks EBAY)and of course the Doctor Who! I have a couple more on the way, some Dr Seuss, a Narnia, and come others. I really should get Jar Jar from Episode 1 to complete my collection. I think he is all I have left. I guess I kept hoping I would get him in a lot with others I wanted.

I guess that it depends on the bookmark or collection on whether I count it as a double or not. Some I might, some I don't. Because some of the BKs only come in the large size while others come in the standard.

I don't use plastic sleeves (unless they come with them, like you Julie). I feel I keep them stored in a bin that is pretty good protection. If I were displaying them, that would be another matter. I get more worried about the tassels then I do anything else.

Who can't love standard!? The large ones work very well in hard cover books, but standard works well in both. I guess it doesn't matter the tassels are the same size. I like both!

It occurred to me that I didn't give any ideas on how to submit pictures or bookmarks to add to the list. Just leave a comment if you know of any or know the names . Ebay has some of the hard to find Return of the King bookmarks. Coronation, Elrond, Merry&Pippin, Faramir to name some of the rarest. Starting under $5. There is also a lot with Elrond and Saron up. All something to check out.

Rating bookmarks availiblity

Would people like it is I stated beside the bookmark how common, uncommon, or rare it was? What does everyone think? It could be helpful, but I don't know how well I can rate all of them.


UPDATE:

    Okay I just did a once over. Got some of them. I just based them on how hard I found them to be or how often I see them or not. I am open for suggestions, because I don't have a lot of places in my area with bookmarks available (pretty much all closed down). I find most of mine on from online sources. So the availability could be very different for me.

 

    Going over helped me make some corrections. Keep in mind that the status rating isn't the value rating. I am just focusing on availability. For example, I like Eragon and collect them, they are mostly uncommon, because the movie isn't a new one and the books have been in print for several years. They aren't printing these bookmarks anymore.  Other collectors don't care for Eragon, so they aren't worth much. I hope that helps.

    On some of them I put uncommon/rare. I was torn on which to make. Again I am open for suggestions.

More up dates and Poll

I added some Marilyn Monroe bookmarks in the movie category.

  I want to poll everyone. The Bookbites section, do we like it as it is? Or would people prefer that I mix it in with the rest of the bookmarks?

Added UK BKs

I added a lot of British bookmarks. Some Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and some storybook characters from Roald Dahl books, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Beatrix Potter. Now I am off to look up the conversion rate between US and UK currency. Might have to put an order together sometime.....soon-ish.

I don't know if anyone else had trouble finding Star Trek Deep Space nine crew bookmark. I did. I found the journal without the bookmark more often than not. On Amazon.com someone is selling one for $3.99. There is also a Neelix from Voyager for the same price (I think the shipping gets combined, rare on amazon). I don't see as many voyager bookmarks often.

Also on Amazon.com There are two Rare tasseled promo bookmarks. Gimli and Boromir available. This also seems like a good time to get a complete set of 5 or 10 double-sided promo bookmark for Lord of the Rings The Two Towers. on either Amazon or Ebay.


If you are a Pixar fan there are two Wall*e bookmarks available. Only one left in stock each.
Wall*e Moon and Wall*e box are $3.99 each and shipping is combined!

A bit expensive, but not easy to find Boba Fett bookmark it says Empire Strike Back. It's a bundle set of his action figure, bookmark, and lego key chain. There is also a Yoda bundle set which has more but costs WAY more. I already asked it the seller would separate it from the set, but that was a no go. I can see myself breaking down for the Bobe Fett pack, but sorry Yoda. I will just have to keep looking for you.

little updates

You may have seen the making a bookmark tassel. I though it would be a good reference for those tassels that have fallen apart. I have really only done little updates. There is a new section for xmen BKs (Marvel comics). I am sad that the books category is so small, I put the library read bookmarks there. I guess they don't make many book bookmarks until they turn into a movie so show or something. I wish all the posters they made were bookmarks too. I added some pictures of Batmen Returns bookbites. Two Legend of Zelda bookmark pictures and an anime bookmark.

I think that's everything for now.

Added more to the collection

Seven more additions to the collection! And yes, one was Wesley! Star Trek and Harry Potter! I nearly have all the Voyager collection (I started on TNG first). I got metal edged Harry Potter bookmarks; Harry and Hermione. I think they are Hallmark. Anybody know if they make Ron? I can't say I have ever seen a picture of him.

I should have more coming over the next few days. Making great progress with Star Trek and Babylon 5. Locutus!!!

Making a tassel

I am sure we have all had a tassel fall apart of us or got a bookmark that's missing a tassel. I have tried to repair or make my own. So here are some instructions for making a bookmark tassel. Here is a video and picture instructions. They are different in how they put them together, so keep that in mind. But the basic idea is the same. I thought variety would be good. So which ever you prefer. These I liked most. If anyone else has a favorite set of instructions they would like to share please feel free to do so! If I find any more good sites I will added to this post.

Materials
In one they use embroidery floss. It looks nice, but I feel can be a bit stiff. I have tested with various thin light weight yarns and they worked out better. To be honest I haven't found any kind of string that I am in love with yet. Any suggestions?? Recommendations?
Most strings can be found at a fabric store or in the craft section.

YAY more bookmarks!!!

I wish I could say I own all of the ones I have pictured here, but sadly I don't.  I just got Watchmen, 2 of the tassel promo LOTR ones (one I need to get a picture of an put on here), and a random Garfield!! I wish my Wesley Crusher (Star Trek) bookmark would get here! I had a hard time finding him then I finally got him! *happy dance* I didn't know he existed until I saw a picture on amazon.com. Out of stock of course. Which you might have guessed was one of the many bookmarks that lead me to this blog! He was one of the ones at the top that I wanted! Guinan I've got my eyes peeled for you!!!  Yes... I just know realized that a lot of the ones I want right now are Star Trek bks.......  I guess I just want to finish off my collections!

   So anyone else have a White Whale? What is the top few bookmarks that you are dying to find? Top five, lets say. And this is not the only time I am going to ask this. Maybe each month....? What bookmark are you looking for this month?  I don't know. I am rambling and throwing out ideas. See if anyone likes them and I have to give you something to read!

Bookmarks I wish they would make!

Well I will tell you a few of mine. One WHY are there no Game of Thrones bookmarks?????? I know I know there are the magnetic ones. I don't really care for those. Not that they don't look cool, but I use my bookmarks (how can you be really harsh with a bookmark?) and the whole going over two pages thing... I don't know. I like just sticking it in and closing the book. Please make tasseled ones!! And even of those characters whom have already died in the show!!! (I don't get regular TV some I am normal a season behind, but I have read the book! I know which of my favorites that you killed Martin!!!)

So any thoughts or preferences? Magnetic bookmarks, what do you think?

Another bookmark I wish they would make is for the old movie, Forbidden Planet. Yes I am a geek/nerd and proud of it! For those of you who don't know Forbidden Planet is a science fiction movie that inspired the likes of Star Trek and Star Wars. I just want a tasseled bookmark of the poster. I mean, they made a promo bookmark for Les Miserables movie musical. Love the movie and musical it's just not I would expect to come in a bookmark. They make I Love Lucy and Three Stooges bookmarks for gosh sake! Make me a Forbidden Planet! For the geeks! Even Castle and Kate know about it!

More bookmark lists and pictures added!

I added lists and some photos of the newer bookmarks for popular TV shows. I did The Office, The Big Bang Theory, The Three Stooges, and Glee so far. I hope I got them right, I can't say I really know a lot about any of these shows.

I also did more Cartoons, children's characters. The Muppets, Flintstones, Bernstein Bears, some Looney tunes, and Peanuts. I think that is all. I am trying to start something for the Anime too. As I said this is always a work in progress.

Some more changes. You might have noticed a lesser amount of pages. Turns out I hit the limit on pages, so I combined a few together to save space for later bookmarks. The main reworking is Cartoons, Comics, Children's Characters, and Storybook , Fantasy and Science Fiction, and Video Games, Graphic Novels, and Anime. I am considered about merging superheros, but we will see. I am going to leave to for now. Rest assured all the lists and pictures are still there, just under an extended section.
